All Real Estate Agents and Brokers are in the Business of Leadership; a notion few recognize and/or live by - #KeySuccessIdeas - the majority center their daily routines on Sales, and very little on Leadership Skills. Let us first see why leadership is at the heart of their business; we must first realize that leadership is not about Bosses telling Employees what to do; we must see a Real Estate Transaction as the coming together of many professionals each with a set of self-serving expectations; and that the Realtor is the glue that brings it all together - this is why Leadership matters at all levels.
If you took the time to count the number of professionals involved in each Real Estate Transaction your mind would spin; many of these individuals don’t say much but yield great influence; we are talking about Home Stagers, Photographers, Office Administrators, Brokers on both sides of the deal, Home Inspectors, Appraisers, Title Representatives, Insurance Brokers, Lawyers, not to overlook Buyers, Sellers, their families, their friends, and more… All of these individuals are on Your Team! A Real Estate Transaction is the Mastery of Leadership over the egos, desires, conflicts, and aspirations of all involved. You see, you are not in the Real Estate Transaction Business - you are in the Business of Leadership.
I argue that Long-Term Success in Real Estate is the Pursuit of Leadership; and that Sales Skills are the means of making a living between deals. I also advance that Leadership is a muscle that must be worked out regularly - it is NOT an On and Off human feature. The Bedrock for organic leadership is Trust; and trust is earned - the best way to nurture Trust around you is by starting to trust others with tasks and good conversations. Find a way to connect with a member of “your team” and seek their advice on something in their field - then listen to them carefully.
Take the following example; you call the Photographer who took the last set of pictures of your listing and you ask: “Tell me what I can do to make our projects a bit more efficient, I value your insights.” Then you give them a chance to express themselves; you do not have to agree with everything they say - but you want to make sure they are heard; and if an idea resonates acknowledge it and implement it. Remember you are the Rain-Maker and when you do well everyone around you does well; more importantly it also goes the other way around - when “Your Team” gives you their best you get to shine! - #8WeekSuccess
