I have attended many Real Estate Events and Awards Ceremonies and there is a theme that repeats itself; The joy with being with colleagues is the most important aspect of the whole event. Real Estate is a people business and how we relate to one another builds long term friendships and authentic connections.

So how do you ensure an event is successful – here are a few of my thoughts:

1. Prepare, prepare, prepare – the organizers must plan for all possible contingencies and communicate very early. The Brokers and Agents are asking themselves: “Why should I attend?” – there is really one answer when you think about it: Exercising Influence. Your presence tells others what you are up to and what you stand for; Networking is the real bonus.

2. If you are attending alter your point of view from: “We’ll see if it’s any good!” to “I am going to have a good time visiting my colleagues; I will contribute in my way to the success of all!” Of course this is asking too much of participants; but in life the Attitude you walk around with creates your Universe.

3. If you have a Video Camera bring it – take clips of your agents meeting the leadership at your Celebration Event; Take pictures and Videos of them getting their awards and blog about them. Ask them on video how they feel about the event during breaks and capture their joy! To be joyous is as easy at times as to be miserable – some times it is up to you!

4. The best events bring into our lives people we don’t know – Bring lots of Business Cards and make sure you meet everyone; and yes spend some time with them. You never know who you are going to meet that can make a significant difference in your life.

5. The most important ingredient is NOT tangible – it is Gratitude! You cannot buy it; you cannot steal it; you cannot fake it… it wells up within you just because you want to be in its presence!
